Sightseeing in Washington, D.C.

Without a doubt, there is no shortage of things to see and do in Washington, D.C. Our nation's capitol is home to some of the most remarkable historic sites,  museums and monuments as well as fantastic shopping and dining spots. The BEST WESTERN Old Colony Inn is just 5 miles from the White House, the Pentagon, both the Lincoln and Vietnam Memorials and the Smithsonian and the National Aquarium are less than 10 miles away!

The Smithsonian Institution
Among the most popular of Washington, D.C. attractions is the Smithsonian, which is arguably a destination in its own right. With more than 19 museums and galleries as well as the National Zoo, the biggest problem you'll have is figuring out which to see first.

The White House
Visit the most famous address in the nation! It takes a bit of advance planning, but anyone can tour the White House. Stop by the White House Visitor Center at the southeast corner of 15th and E Streets or call 202-456-7041 to learn more about planning your trip to the White House.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial
More than just a wall, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is located just northeast of the Lincoln Memorial in Constitution Gardens and commemorates the sacrifices of American armed forces during the Vietnam War. Nearby are the Three Soldiers, a sculpture by Frederick Hart as well as the Vietnam Women's Memorial, erected in 1993 by Glenna Goodacre.

Shopping and Dining in Washington, D.C.

Union Station
Located at 50 Massachusetts Ave. NE, Union Station offers you hundreds of retailers, both small and unique as well as bigger retail favorites. Dining options are plenteous, whether you're interested in a quick bite or a more elegant affair.

Penn Quarter
East End of Downtown Washington, D.C.
The very walkable district is home to farmer's markets, unique eateries, contemporary art galleries and scores of retail shopping spots.

Chinatown
Between 5th and 8th Streets and along H and I Streets east of downtown, you'll find a small neighborhood that underwent major renovations in 2006. There are plenty of restaurants dishing up authentic Asian cuisine and memorable shopping spots.
